We need to put our creative thinking hat on and challenge ourselves and our employer to pilot new approaches. This is not an impossible task, it is a new reality. Greater productivity brought by education and innovation are the only weapon against off shoring. Yet this weapon is a hidden “diamond in the rough”, in George French’s words, as it might bring great new opportunities………….
legal educationjamesdhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03334649241763612830noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-15602189.post-42178757986274449642009-12-09T13:28:23.934+05:302009-12-09T13:28:23.934+05:30I gotta hand it to whoever wrote this, you've ...I gotta hand it to whoever wrote this, you've really kept me updated! My understanding of Sibal's proposal was that he is not advocating the intriduction of an undergraduate paper only in law (leading to a law degree). From what I gathered, the idea was to have one paper in law- which will give a broad overview of the basic tenets and institutional structure of the legal system.
If the proposal is as you suggest, I share all your concerns.Aparna Chandrahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06243943390200589989noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-15602189.post-35573490260899424272009-09-23T08:28:41.642+05:302009-09-23T08:28:41.642+05:30Aparna, thanks for the post. I think there are strong reasons for pursuing the study of law in an interdisciplinary context and the current requirement of an undergraduate degree in the social sciences before/in tandem with a degree in law provides some kind of interdisciplinary framework for the study of law, however imperfect it may be. To get rid of the requirement of an undergraduate degree in social sciences altogether is clearly problematic and would result in continuation of the study of law as body of rules and dogma divorced from their historical, socio-political and economic context.Namita Wahihttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16600392316403126342noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-15602189.post-38693495498666186032009-09-11T16:23:59.439+05:302009-09-11T16:23:59.439+05:30Would removing legal education from the BCI's ...Would removing legal education from the BCI's control lead necessarily to some sort of bar examination system in the country? This might be the point that would most concretely affect future Indian law students.Perakathhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15108830079471227958noreply@blogger.com
