Tomorrow, Justice Arijit Pasayat will deliver the judgment in the case of Maninderjit Singh Bitta v. UOI, on behalf of a three-Judge Bench. Bitta, who runs a movement against terrorism, has sought early implementation of the scheme of high security registration plates (HSR) for motor vehicles, to prevent car thefts and terrorism. The scheme has been getting postponed, after missing one deadline after another, mainly because of lack of readiness on the part of state Governments. For those of us, who have been tracking the success rate of PILs, the judgment is likely to be an interesting one. The judgment is here.
